On Monday, Detroit Pistons waived the No. 2 pick in the 2009 draft by Memphis, Hasheem Thabeet, forward Brian Cook, and guards Josh Bostic and Lorenzo Brow.

The 7-foot-3 center has never averaged more than 3.1 points per game. He played 23 games for Oklahoma City last season.

With the Pistons' regular season approaching in the next nine days, they began the process of cutting down their roster of training camp invitees.

None had guarantees coming into camp, and with the Pistons already having 16 guaranteed contracts, one over the league limit of 15, it was highly unlikely any of them would be able to crack the roster.

The Pistons still have to decide on whether they'll keep Tony Mitchell, a second-round pick from 2013 who's on the roster bubble.
