US Senator John McCain’s wife praises First Lady Margaret Kenyatta as strong and generous

Americans in Arizona have termed First Lady Margaret Kenyatta an empathetic, warm, strong and generous woman who has become a major inspiration to all Kenyans.

They said on Thursday that Margaret’s personal will and determination put her among the top women in the front-line of Africa’s social change and transformation.

“Many successes in Africa can be attributed to women. You are a strong woman and major inspiration to the people of Kenya”, said Cindy McCain, wife to Arizona State Senator John McCain.

She spoke on behalf of Arizona residents during a VIP reception in honour of the First Lady held at Arizona Southwest College of Naturopathic Medicine.

Cindy said issues Margaret is championing under her Beyond Zero Campaign, that focuses on women and children, need to be addressed urgently.

“We are impressed with your work of helping the most vulnerable people of Kenya – women and children,” she said.

Margaret said she was “intensely moved” by the warmth of the hosts and thanked Project CURE for the reception and availing life-saving medical resources whose first consignment is destined for Chemolingot hospital in West Pokot, Baringo county in Kenya.

“You and your team are taking hope and help to people living in very hard and sometimes, very harsh and hostile environments,” she told chief executive Douglas Jackson at the function.

“Thank you for the $291 million (Sh 29.5 billion) already invested in the African continent and thank you especially for supporting the delivery of much needed life-saving medical supplies and equipment to Kenya.”

“Thank you so much for your valiant and persistent work and for bringing together so many people to work towards such a noble goal”, she told the team behind the project.

Naturopathic medicine harnesses the healing power of nature without necessarily using drugs. It embraces medical techniques such as acupuncture, use of herbs, homeopathy and stress management.

Naturomedicine can reverse ailments including diabetes, cardiovascular diseases and arthritis.

Others at the reception CURE sponsored included founders James Jackson,Kenyan Ambassador to the US Ronison Njeru and a host of American businessmen and investors.
