After claiming a bronze medal in the 3000 metre steeplechase, decorated Olympian Ezekiel Kemboi announced his retirement.
Ezekiel Kemboi took bronze in the 3000 metre steeplechase and then declared the race his last, with the 34-year-old retiring from athletics.
The two-time Olympic champion was defending his title at Rio 2016, where Kenyan compatriot Conseslus Kipruto – 13 years his junior – topped the podium.
Kemboi said: “This is my fourth Olympics and I just want to say that I am retiring from athletics, at the moment.
“Sometimes you just need to make a decision and I have come to the conclusion that today is my last event.”
Kemboi is a true steeplechase great, having claimed four World Championship gold medals in addition to his two Olympic titles.
