Technology company OneUni has developed smartphone-based degree programmes for Daystar University, a first in Kenya.
Following the deal, Daystar will offer some courses via the mobile phone. The first phase of the programme will offer phone-based bachelor’s of education courses.
“We see every day, qualified and deserving students who are not able to access higher education and Daystar Mobile will help us address this issue,” Daystar’s vice chancellor Timothy Wachira said.
OneUni is headquartered in California’s Silicon Valley in the US and has an office in Nairobi.
OneUni CEO Gene Wade said with Kenya’s high mobile phone penetration, such programmes will increase education levels of masses.
