DV 2018: Green Card application period opens today October 4

The United States will begin receiving applications for the Diversity Visa (DV) programme 2018 from eligible Kenyan citizens from October 4 to November 7.

Program began today, October 4, 2016 at 12:00 noon, Eastern Daylight Time (EDT) (GMT-4), and concludes on Monday, November 7, 2016 at 12:00 noon, Eastern Standard Time (EST) (GMT-4).

Those wishing to try their luck in the lottery scheme can submit their applications for free online.

Aplicants are strongly advised to apply on the US State Department website and avoid untrusted contacts regarding their application. There is no application fee for the lottery.

While applying, if a candidate is married, he/she needs to list his/her spouse and unmarried children; and if unmarried, he/she needs to list all of his/her family members.

Failure to do so will deem their applications invalid.

If a candidate applies more than one application, it would also result in his/her disqualification.

The result of the DV application would be published on May 2, 2017.

One can log on to www.dvlottery.state.gov and enter their confirmation number to know if he/she is selected.

It has also been advised to keep the confirmation number to self.
