The Only Four Individuals that Raila Carried to His Unity Meeting with President Kenyatta

National Super Alliance (Nasa) leader Raila Odinga carried with him four individuals to his unity talks with President Kenyatta at Harambee House on Friday morning.
In the meeting, Raila was flanked by Suna East Member of Parliament Junet Mohammed, his daughter Winnie Odinga, his Spokesman Dennis Onyango, and his lawyer Paul Mwangi.
President Kenyatta and Raila Odinga agreed to put their differences aside and work together for the sake of the country's unity.
Speaking during a joint media briefing after the closed door meeting that lasted for hours, President Kenyatta and Odinga stressed that national interest must always prevail and called on Kenyans to unite.
“Time has come for us to confront our differences because they are becoming too entrenched,” said Odinga during the press briefing.
“We refuse to allow our diversity to kill our nation, we refuse to be the leaders under whose watch Kenyans lead into a failed nation,” Odinga added.
President Kenyatta noted: “This country is greater than any one individual and for this country to come together, leaders must come together and address what ails our nation."
“This marks a new beginning for our country and that we can differ in political alignment but always remain steadfast and united in matters Kenya,” He added.
In a joint statement on Friday, Nasa co-principals Kalonzo, Wetang'ula and Mudavadi said Odinga didn't consult them before meeting the President and that they only learnt about the talks through the media.
“This morning the 9th day of March 2018 we saw through the media a meeting between The President and Rt. Hon. Raila Amolo Odinga. Nasa is a coalition of Four political parties namely, Orange Democratic Movement (ODM), Wiper Democratic Movement-Kenya (WDM-K), Amani National Congress (ANC) and Ford Kenya,” the three said in the statement.
“While we have always advocated for dialogue, as Co-Principals of the Nasa Coalition, we were not privy to the discussions at Harambee House. The Four Nasa Co-principals have however scheduled a retreat on Monday 12th March, 2018 when we shall deliberate on the political developments,” they added.
