Bishop Robert Wafula who quit Neno Evangelism Center after a video of Pastor James Ng'ang'a admonishing his bishops went viral on social media has opened his own church.
Wafula, who said he felt offended by Ng'ang'a's outburst, tendered his resignation days after the video emerged.
“If he had issues with us, he should have called us for a meeting. But declaring in public that he will kick us out means he no longer wants to work with us. I would rather leave than wait for him to do what he threatened,” Wafula asserted.
Until his resignation, Wafula was in charge of Neno Evangelism Center's Mombasa branch.
Bishop Wafula launched his new ministry dubbed Shalom Miracle Church in front of hundreds of his followers at Tononoka grounds in Mombasa on Sunday.
Sources said more than 90 percent of Neno Evangelism's congregation in Mombasa followed Bishop Wafula to his new ministry.
In the video, Pastor Ng’ang’a threatened to close down all Neno Evangelism branches, accusing the bishops of disrespecting his wife.
“If you are not going to respect my wife I will kick you out of my Ministry it doesn’t matter who you are. This time I will show you my power. If you don’t respect her, leave my Church and go start your own wajinga hawa. You have become rich in my church. Stupid, arrogant, useless people, taka taka, rubbish. There is nothing you can tell me… They want to bring Neno down because I’m the founder."
“I want full respect when I cough you answer, just the same way you did when you came here with torn clothes, and you’re rich because of me,” said Ng’ang’a in his rant.
