A new report tabled in the National Assembly this week shows that at least 133 Kenyans are diagnosed with cancer every day.
This means that the country records 3,990 new cases of cancer every month and 47,887 new cases annually, an increase from 41,000 cases recorded in the year 2012.
The report indicates that breast and cervical cancer are the leading cancers in the country with 498 new cases of breast cancer being recorded every month (5,985 annually) while 437 new cervical cancer cases are recorded monthly (5,250 every year).
Esophagus cancer is third with 4,380 new cases yearly, followed by prostate (2,864) and 2,316 new cases of colorectal cancer.
The report tabled by the National Cancer Institute (NCI) further shows that the number of cancer-related deaths has increased to 32,987 up from 28,500 deaths in 2012. This translates to 1,099 deaths monthly or 36 deaths each day.
“Cancer is estimated to be the third leading cause of death in Kenya after infectious diseases and cardiovascular diseases. Estimates from Globocan 2018 show that there are 47,887 new cancer cases in Kenya every year and 32,987 deaths due to cancer annually,” NCI chief executive officer Alfred Karagu told MPs.
n terms of deaths, esophagus cancer leads with 4,351 deaths per year, followed by cervical (3,286), breast cancer (2,553), prostate cancer (1,663) and colorectal cancer with 1,466 deaths annually.

its the crazy fish and other food stuff they stupid govt is letting in.
This is what happens when those who are held responsible for the welfare of the nation (our leaders) and first line of defending the nation become compromised by excessive greed and corruption. They allow unrestricted form of capitalism without responsibility to engulf the country. When those who are held responsible to feed our nation, pass on that responsibility to foreign nations to feed, cloth, give health, and accomodation to our people. These foreign nations do so in self-interest. They do it exactly how they see us as "shit-hole" countries. No wonder, now almost everyone has cancer.
Anyone, is ready to feed us whatever they want. We are in the business of licensing Poisoning centers ( calling them investments) our people because of greed. What kind of money is expected to be made by pharmaceutical companies. They are saying how many will have cancer in future, because that means how much profit they are going to make.
How much are they making in airline tickets, accomodation and hospital bill's as our leaders head to their countries for treatment and they end up dying anyway. Kenyan's need to wake up.
As the President of Ghana put it, our relationship with the west from colonialism until now, has been that they rise up based on our enslavement and the enslavement of our "so called black brothers in the west"; and in that relationship our countries end up with new man-made uncontrollable issues that take years to control and by that time more damage is done to our people and environment.
As we go to the grave, they go to the bank. Our death is profit to them as long as we allow it to happen!!

This is the result of Naivas and other supermarkets selling contaminated meat, imported fish from China, contaminated sugar, processed food and the list goes on and on.
That number is less compared to usa where numbers r upto 100,000 a year who dies of various cancer thou men die more than women. n this numbers don't include children so i don't understand why pple get agitated or brainwashed ati cancer is killing more pple in kenya than western world.
