Kenya paid Sh2.1 million for Uhuru rooms in luxury ship in Rio and he did not use them

Kenya shelled out Sh2.1 million for rooms on a cruise ship to be used by President Uhuru Kenyatta during the Rio Olympics, Chef de Mission Stephen arap Soi has said, revealing that the rooms were not used.

Two rooms were paid for at the rate of $605 for 18 days.

There were also room bookings for the two chairmen of the Senate and the National Assembly Labour and Social Welfare Committees at a cost of Sh1.3 million.

There were also rooms to be booked for the Controller of Budget and the bosses of Sports Kenya and the Anti-Doping Agency of Kenya.

The two rooms meant for the President and the CS were never used, Mr Soi said. The others were later occupied by senior men and women in the team. Details in the story a bit later, he added.
