Dr. Makoyo's final wish was to be buried in his native home land Tanzania. Husband to Leah Makoyo, Father to Makoyo Jacob, Oloo, Mise, Wagaka Kevin.
Dr. Makoyo was a Surgeon that served the people of Tanzania for over 28 years and a Pastor for over 10 years. Medically trained in the United States, Dr. Makoyo specialized in general surgery and earned his PH.D in Pharmacology at Howard University. After practicing medicine in Upstate New York for 10 years, Dr. Makoyo moved back to his home country to serve the underserved community of Shirati.
Dr. Makoyo had a very large heart for the country of Tanzania but especially a heart for the people of Tanzania. He served as a Pastor in the Tanzania Mennonite church for 10 years starting in 2003.
Dr. Makoyo was a visionary. Making investments in local area healthcare before the public sector was ready to. Started Rao Hospital in 1995 and Rao Health Training Center in 2012. He was well known for his abrupt and very direct style. It was rare to be unclear about where he stood on a topic. However, he would regularly have and share with you the kind of words that could really change your life. He had a passion for life and a passion for people. He desired the most out of people. Often encouraging them to shoot high and unlock their hidden potential.
Dr. Makoyo loved his homeland. He wanted nothing more than to be in Tanzania. He was seeking medical treatment here in the U.S. in 2017. Unfortunately, God took him before he could return . He was very clear with his family that he wanted to be buried back in Tanzania. It is now our duty as a family to honor his final wishes. The cost to deliver him back to Tanzania is $7,000.
The family is seeking support from anyone who feels generous enough to give so that we can make this final wish a reality. Please make your donations by Friday January 19th if you are able so we can plan accordingly. PLEASE TAP HERE TO DONATE, THANK YOU
