President Uhuru Kenyatta is set to make an official visit to the White House on August 27th, where he will meet United States President Donald Trump.
In a statement dispatched on Monday, the White House said talks between President Trump and President Kenyatta will focus on ways of strengthening ties between Kenya and US.
“The meeting between the two leaders will reaffirm the longstanding relationship between the United States and Kenya as a cornerstone of peace and stability in Africa and the broader Indo-Pacific region,” reads part of the statement.
“President Trump and President Kenyatta will explore ways to bolster trade and investment between the two countries, while strengthening security cooperation.”
Acting State House spokesperson Kanze Dena said President Kenyatta will visit the US on an invite from Trump.
President Kenyatta will become the third African Head of State to hold discussions with Trump at the White House after Muhammadu Buhari of Nigeria and Egypt's Abdel Fattah Al Sisi.
