USCIS Launches New Service for Immigrants to Apply for Citizenship, Green Cards Online

The United States Citizenship and Immigration Service (USCIS) has launched a new service that allows immigrants to apply for citizenship or replace a green card online.
To apply for the crucial documents online, one is required to create an account using new tools available on the USCIS homepage.
“Filing online helps applicants and petitioners by making the process more efficient. It streamlines the adjudication process, making it easier for USCIS to share files with interagency partners, communicate with applicants and petitioners, obtain more efficient responses to requests for evidence, and make decisions," a USCIS spokesperson says.
The following forms are available on USCIS homepage: I-90, Application on to Replace Permanent Resident Card; N-336, Request for a Hearing on a Decision in Naturalization Proceedings; N-400, Application for Naturalization; N-565, Application for Replacement of Naturalization/Citizenship Document; N-600, Application for Certificate of Citizenship; N-600K, Application for Citizenship and Issuance of Certificate Under Section 322 and G-28, Notice of Entry of Appearance as Attorney or Accredited Representative.
To make an application, one must create an account, fill a form for specific application, upload evidence supporting your application, print a copy of the PDF for your files, sign the forms electronically (e-sign), pay the required fee, check the account to obtain the date for filing your fingerprints and run required background and security checks, respond to requests for supporting evidence, verify the status of the application and lastly, wait for the USCIS decision on your application.
USCIS says the aim of the electronic system is to cut back the number of rejected applications and requests for additional evidence.
