Young Nairobi Lady Hangs Herself Hours after Posting Suicide Note on Facebook

A young Nairobi woman has hanged herself hours after she shared a suicide note on Facebook.
The lady, identified as Martha Kwamboka, took to social media to express her frustrations but did not specify what was disturbing her. She asked her friends not to write rest in peace (RIP) messages on her wall.
“Feeling suicidal, I am frustrated. Whoever I wronged I am sorry. I will shine on your way, bye."
"At least I tried to share my mind and worries. Do not type RIP on my timeline, I am gone for good,” she wrote on Facebook.
Her lifeless body was found by neighbors hanging from her apartment's balcony in Kayole estate hours after she posted the suicide message.
Unverified reports indicate that Kwamboka decided to take away her own life after learning that her man was in an affair with a neighbor.
She is not the first young Kenyan to commit suicide after posting suicide note on Facebook. In June, a photographer from Nyahururu, Gerald Mwangi Ngima killed himself hours after posting a suicide note online.
Last month, a lady identified as Joki Sue also shared a suicide note indicating that she was tired of people fleecing her.

Oh please with all due respect, even in traditional Africa, people ended their lives prematurely, didn't Okonkwo kill himself - Things Fall Apart ? :-)

Okonkwo killed himself because he was unable to convince his tribal people not to follow the christian beliefs. He felt he was a failure and weak for not protecting his tribesmen. He was never a mfuasi. Also didn't he himself kill his own son- so much of a super tradition? He killed himself because of hopelessness maybe same as this woman..

US Global Hotel Chain Hyatt to Launch Two Facilities in Nairobi

US hotel chain Hyatt has announced it will be opening its first branded hotels in Nairobi after entering into a partnership agreement with Kanha limited.
The American multinational hospitality company will launch Hyatt Place Westlands and Hyatt House Westlands in Nairobi. The two establishments will have a total of 233 guestrooms and are both expected to open in early 2020.
Hyatt Place Westlands will have 173 rooms, while Hyatt House Westlands will comprise 60 apartment-styled suites. The two properties will also have 7,500 square feet conference hall, a restaurant, a bar, and a swimming pool.

Hyatt currently runs five hotels in Africa including Hyatt Regency Casablanca in Morocco, Hyatt Place Taghazout Bay (Morocco), Hyatt Regency Sharm el Sheikh in Egypt, Hyatt Regency Dar es Salaam in Tanzania and Park Hyatt (Zanzibar.)
The Chicago-headquartered Hyatt Hotels Corporation currently operates more than 750 properties in over 55 countries across six continents.

US First Lady Melania Trump to Visit Kenya Next Week

United States First Lady Melania Trump is set to visit Kenya as part of her four-nation tour to Africa in October.
Speaking in New York on Wednesday, Melania announced she will also visit Ghana, Malawi and Egypt in her first ever major solo international trip since becoming First Lady.
The First Lady described the four places she is poised to visit starting Monday as four "beautiful and very different" African countries.
She said she was looking forward to "take the message of my Be Best campaign to many of the countries and children throughout Africa."
The 48-year-old launched Be Best, an initiative that focuses on children's wellness and anti-bullying, earlier this year.
"Whether it is education, drug addiction, hunger, online safety or bullying, poverty or disease, it is too often children who are hit first, and hardest, across the globe," Trump said at a United Nations event on Wednesday.
"Each of us hails from a country with its own unique challenges, but I know in my heart we are united by our commitment to raising the next generation to be happy, healthy, and morally responsible adults," she told the crowd.

Six Kenyans to Receive Millions of Shillings from Facebook

Six Kenyans are among individuals from across the world who are set to receive millions of shillings from US social networking company Facebook.
Recently, the California- headquartered tech giant announced over 100 groups from different countries have been selected for this year's Facebook Community Leadership Program, a global initiative which invests in people who are building communities.
The six Kenyans, all founders of Facebook pages that are moving lives, made it to the list. There are two categories of those to be awarded in the program; community leaders in residence groups and fellows groups.
Among the six Kenyans chosen, only entrepreneur Noah Nasiali was named in the community leaders in residence groups category. In this category Facebook gives up to $1,000,000 (Sh100 million).
Nasiali is the founder of Africa Farmers Club’, a Facebook community with more than 100,000 farmers in Africa.
The other five Kenyans were named in fellows group category and will receive Sh5 million each. They include Pamellah Oduor, founder of ‘Let’s Cook Kenyan Meals’, Truphosah Monah, who founded ‘Women and Realities of Disability’ and Caroline Kihusa, founder of ‘Still A Mum Trust’.
Others are Asha Mwery, the founder of ‘WomenWorlkKE’, a group which brings together Kenyan women with various business ambitions and Nation Media Group journalist Felista Wangari who founded ‘52 Week Money Challenge Kenya group’ which encourages members to save money

More Than 7,000 Travelers Book Kenya Airways' Nonstop Flights to the US Ahead of October 28th Debut

Kenya Airways (KQ) has announced that more than 7,000 passengers have booked the airline's nonstop flights to the United States ahead of the launch scheduled for October 28th.
The airline disclosed the news during a dinner hosted by KQ at Rockefeller Plaza in New York, United States on Sunday. President Kenyatta, who is in New York for the 73rd session of United Nations General Assembly (UNGA), attended the dinner.
“On behalf of the Kenyan people, I thank the US government for working closely with us to make this realisation (Direct flights)” said the President.
Speaking at the event, Kenya Airways chairman Michael Joseph and the Chief Executive Officer Sebastian Mikosz thanked Kenyatta for his support during the airline's bid to fly directly to New York.
The direct flights between Nairobi and JFK International Airport in New York are expected to boost trade between Kenya and the US. Kenya also looks to double the number of US tourists visiting the country.
The national carrier becomes the first airline to operate non-stop flights between East Africa and the US.
KQ has set aside two Dreamliner planes for the daily flights to US — a night flight from Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) and a mid-day one from New York.
The aircraft will carry 234 passengers; 30 at the premium world class and 204 in the economy section. It will have four pilots, 12 flight attendants and 85 tonnes of fuel loaded one way.
