A Kenyan man is fighting for his life at the ICU at the John Peter Smith (JPS) hospital in Forthworth after being stabbed 37 times in his house in Arlington, TX
Kennedy  Odhiambo, 38, was attacked in his home on Thursday night by a man he had considered to be a friend and whom he was even helping. Ken had helped him many times including having him stay at his place and even offering him food countless times.
According to Ken’s, sister Anna Obare who spoke to jambonewspot.com, the attack happened when Ken and a female friend were at his house. It is believed that the female at some point called the attacker who is an African-American in what seemed like a set up.
The attacker came over then started attacking and stabbing Ken as the woman watched. As the attack was ongoing, Eddy Otieno, a brother to Ken arrived at the house. The attacker then turned his attacks on him while also attempting to strangle him with a cord.
According to Ms Obare, Eddy was able to escape the attacker and dashed to get help.
As the attacker eventually walked out of the house, Eddy was able to run back into the house and lock himself in just as the attacker came back trying to smash down the door. Eddy was able to call 9-1-1.
After first responders got to the scene, they took a heavily bleeding and an unconscious Kennedy to JPS where a doctor said that had he not gotten to hospital at that time, he would have died.
He is currently breathing on his own but still in critical condition. His brother Eddy was treated and discharged. He sustained a swollen face.
The police have issued an attempted murder and assault with a deadly weapon warrant of arrest against the suspect.
The family is requesting for financial assistance as they try to cope with the grim incident.
The family also needs assistance with hospital bills as both brothers do not have health insurance. He needs further facial surgeries and orthodontic work. The family is asking the community to help with whatever they can to assist Kennedy.
They are also trying to get a ticket for Kennedy’s mum Diana Apondi who is currently in Kenya to return back to US to be by her son. Mrs Apondi has been in the US since 2000 but relocated back home.
