UK Prime Minister Theresa May Intervenes to Help Kenyan Girl Whose Application for British Visa Was Rejected

UK Prime Minister Theresa May has directed the country's Immigration authorities to review the case of a Kenyan girl who was denied visa.
14-year-old Ann Omondi was seeking a visa to enable her to join his father, Dennis Omondi, who lives in Scotland.
Omondo, a British citizen originally from Kenya, had made the application in November, 2018 but UK's Home Office rejected it.
The Home Office said it rejected the application because Omondi, a soldier in the British Army, did not spend enough time with his daughter, who currently lives in Kenya.
Scottish MP Drew Hendry raised Omondi’s plight with Prime Minister May during questions session at the Westminister House of Commons.
Hendry said that Omondi visited Ann as often as he could and it is unfair for the Home Office to deny the military officer a chance to be with his daughter on those grounds.
Responding to MP Hendry, May expressed her gratitude to Omondi’s service and directed Home Secretary Said Javid to review Ann's application then offer a response.

"The Home Office said it rejected the application because Omondi, a soldier in the British Army, did not spend enough time with his daughter, who currently lives in Kenya."
And how is he expected to spend time with her if you deny her a visa to visit the UK? He's in the British Army for God's sake!

US Immigration Lawyers Protest Delays in Processing of Citizenship, Green Card Applications

US Immigration lawyers are up in arms over delays by the government in the processing of citizenship, green cards, and other immigration-related applications.
Through the American Immigration Lawyers Association (AILA), the attorneys say that the time taken to process the applications has almost doubled in the last four years. The lawyers say the delay in processing of the applications is hurting families as well as businesses.
“Throughout the nation, these delays are harming families, vulnerable populations, and U.S. businesses that depend on timely adjudications,” the association, which is made up of over 15,000 immigration attorneys and law professors, says in a report.
The lawyers further claim that the US Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) is transforming into what they describe as “a third immigration enforcement component of DHS" while abandoning its core role of serving immigrants.
The association has demanded more congressional oversight and increased transparency.
Reacting to the lawyers' claims, a spokesman for USCIS has revealed that the agency has opened three new field offices and expanded 10 others in a bid to expedite processing of immigration applications.
“The truth is that while many factors relating to an individual’s case can affect processing times, waits are often due to higher application rates rather than slow processing,” says USCIS spokesperson Michael Bars.
The lawyers say data from the Department of Homeland Security shows the backlog of cases at USCIS doubled during the 2017 financial year.
AILA points out that the average wait time for naturalization was 5.6 months in 2016 and increased to 10.2 months in 2018.

Raila Pocketing Sh800, 000 Per Month from Gov't after Handshake with President Kenyatta

Opposition leader Raila Odinga is reportedly pocketing Sh800,000 monthly from the government following his handshake with President Kenyatta in March last year.
The Standard reports the monthly payment is part of the hefty retirement package that he's entitled to as a former Prime Minister and which had been withheld by the government during President Uhuru's first-term.
The Retirement Benefits (Deputy President and Designated State Officers) Act 2015, states that the former PM is entitled to 80 percent of his last pay, which translates to about Sh800, 000 per month.
In addition, he's entitled to two vehicles including one four-wheel drive car, replaceable once every four years.
Other benefits include bodyguards, a fully paid office, three drivers, a personal assistant, an accountant, two secretaries, housekeepers, senior support staff, gardeners, cooks, and cleaners.
Speaking to the Standard, National Super Alliance (Nasa) Chief Executive Norman Magaya confirmed that the government has already sent officers to Raila's office in Nairobi to carry out a valuation before beginning to pay rent.
Odinga's lawyer Paul Mwangi has also confirmed the reports saying: "Mzee (Raila) is only getting what he is entitled to as a retired Prime Minister."
Odinga was in October 2018 appointed the High Representative for Infrastructure Development in Africa by AU Commission Chairperson Moussa Faki.

When you see these tyrants we call our leaders spending our money as if it grows on trees, always remember the situation in our nation: over 42 percent of our people live under poverty line (UNICEF). 10 percent of the population control nearly 50 percent of the wealth of Kenya. There is no adequate health care, clean water, basic amenities, education and millions don't have enough food for the day. There's no descent housing and shelter for millions of people. Meanwhile, Raila, a man who does nothing but loitering around dividing and inciting one community against another is collecting millions of shillings every month. And it's not Raila alone. The do nothing leaders, elites, government procurement thieves etc, are the parasites in paradise while majority of Kenyans depend on prayers everyday. End these handshake Dynasties and fight for our freedom and our wealth. Our country, our money our vote- think different.

Kenya should be destroyed and rebuilt from scratch. There is just too much that is wrong with it. How about his wife? What is her pension after all spouses in kenya are entitled to benefits too. I can understand when my taxes are used to pay my president, my prime minister or my deputy president but those are women are not our wives why should we pay them?

Because of Raila, Kenya is one of the freest societies in the world. He has worked all his adult life to achieve this. I would suggest a pension of 8 million for this great Kenyan.
If he fought for this country then he should not be participating in bankrupting it because it defeats the whole purpose- well unless he was doing it for his own personal gain.

Royston " How much land (money and for that matter anything else).
In the long run, only his burial site 6x6.
In the end it's the public's burden but your shame.
In the long run, just like Europe, we Will be left with empty buildings that we used to call churches, empty buildings that we used to call malls and all other manner of western weaknesses that we are welcoming to our country in a hurry.
God save Kenya. God give Kenya leaders not politicians. God help Kenya

Ihope that RAOhad patented that handshake. Otherwise the country will go broke if we have to pay 10 gluttons that much.

Some thing is terribly wrong with the way we spend public money. How can that much go to one person who does notPRODUCE but just consume. Shouldn't this kind of money be used to revive textile industries mitumba are supposedly threatening.
Who ever drafted this entitlement should be charged with misappropriation of public funds.

Gov't Declares Wednesdays,Saturdays Car-Less Days inNairobi

Gov't Declares Wednesdays, Saturdays Car-Less Days in Nairobi

Transport and Infrastructure Cabinet Secretary James Macharia has announced a move to block cars from Nairobi Central Business District on Wednesdays and Saturdays.
Speaking to the media on Monday, CS Macharia says the move will be implemented beginning February 1st even as 64 Bus Rapid Transport (BRT) buses are set to arrive in the country next month from South Africa.
Macharia says that during the two car-free days, hawkers will be allowed to sell their goods in the vehicle parking lots within the city center.
He further says the government is in the process of acquiring 11 commuter trains from Spain, for use alongside the BRT buses.
"We have given local manufacturers the templates for the buses. After the pilot programme, the private sector can work with them to manufacture the remaining buses," he says.
He also says the government will later acquire 20 more commuter trains and BRT buses for the plan.
Late last year, the European Union announced a grant of Sh5 billion to go towards the Nairobi BRT project.
“One thing that Nairobi needs is an effective bus rapid transport system. That is why EU has invested Sh5 billion grant to make sure Nairobi residents have a safe, none polluting transport system devoid of jams,” said EU Ambassador to Kenya Stefano Dejak.

Kenyan ministers/cs need to logic in what they try to apply/ do. The 1st thing should be these BRTs to be inside the country b4 any move, trains in the country b4 any move, test them to make sure they are viable, then get an alternate if they fail, then now apply to citizens. Rushing doesnt go anywhere, end up being like puppets, whatever works in western countries doesnt mean 100% will work in our country,,,,

These copy-and-paste kwik fixes from places like Rwanda and TZ, like a concoction of illicit brews will get us drunk as David's sow. Where is the planning here? Taking kigali's and Dar's solutions and mashing them up will not necessarily be Nbo's solutions. In fear of being left behind, most of our experts are betraying the truth and just adopt whatever seems to work elsewhere-we know better than that. So Wednesday and Saturdays are market days in CBD?This is just trying to appease a section of the citizenry.
