World marathon record holder Eliud Kipchoge has reached out to Barack Obama for a meeting after the former US president congratulated him on Sunday for busting the two-hour marathon barrier.
Kipchoge, 34, became the first man to run a marathon under two hours when he clocked one hour, 59 minutes and 40 seconds during the "INEOS 1:59 Challenge" in Vienna, Austria on Saturday.
Obama, born of a Kenyan father and US mother, became the latest global leader to hail Kipchoge for the historic feat posting a warm message on his official Twitter handle.
"Yesterday, marathoner Eliud Kipchoge became the first ever to break two hours. Today in Chicago, Brigid Kosgei set a new women's world record. Staggering achievements on their own, they're also remarkable examples of humanity's ability to endure--and keep raising the bar," tweeted Obama.
Kipchoge, who is also the world marathon record holder, wasted no time requesting a meeting with Obama to discuss matter athletics in a quick rejoinder.
"Dear Mr. Obama, Thank you for your special words. In life we hope to inspire others. Thank you for inspiring me. It would be my greatest honour if we could meet, and discuss how we can make this world a running world. As a running world is a peaceful world. #NoHumanIsLimited," tweeted Kipchoge

Kenya's President Uhuru Kenyatta personally called Kipchoge on Friday wishing him success in Vienna and on Saturday led Kenyans in congratulating the legend.

It remains to be seen whether Obama will meet the iconic Kipchoge who has repeatedly put Kenya on the global map with his fantastic performances in the 42km race that has seen him win 12 out of 13 marathons he has entered.

Police in India Recapture Kenyan Drug Ring Leader after 7-Month Chase

Police in India arrested a 36-year-old Kenyan woman accused of running a drug trafficking ring in the Asian country.
Mariam Mweke was arrested in New Delhi last week after a seven-month chase, according to The Times of India.
Authorities placed a Rs50,000 bounty on her head after she jumped bail following her release on January 7th, 2019.
Mariam had shifted base to Mumbai and was allegedly coordinating her drug operations through VOIP calls and chat platforms, Indian authorities said.
She arrived in India in 2016 on a three-month tourist visa but remained in the country after its expiry doing odd jobs before coming into contact with another Kenyan national identified as Obum Favor who introduced her to drug smuggling.
Mariam worked for Obum trafficking heroin between Delhi and Punjab before gathering her own contacts and suppliers and starting her own syndicate, police said.
She appeared on the police radar in June 2018 after officers seized one of her heroin consignments and was arrested on November 2018. She was charged and freed on bail in January this year.
“On January 7, 2019, the accused was granted bail by the court in Delhi but she jumped bail and evaded further trial proceedings,” the police told India Times.
“She shifted to Mumbai about two months ago where she was involved in drug smuggling by taking consignments from Delhi-based African-origin drug traffickers,” the police added.
Mariam had told the media that she was a divorcee who fled Kenya seeking better opportunities in India in 2016. She is a resident of Nairobi and has two children who live in Kenya.

‘Cut Us Some Slack’: Video of Nairobi Woman Bashing Kenyans in the US Emerges

A video of a Nairobi-based woman bashing Kenyans in the United States has emerged on social media.
In the undated video posted on Facebook, the lady who only identifies herself as Nana tells Kenyans living in the US go give their compatriots back home ‘a break.’
“Acheni kutusumbua tafadhali, we are busy people,” Nana exclaims.
Nana says Kenyans in the US accuse those back home of being a burden to them, but that they [Kenyans in the US] are also burdens to their relatives and friends.
“Wengine mmepata Geeen Card recently halafu mmenza kubrag. Mnatwambia tuwatafutie manyumba na magari halafu hamtaki kulipa…” she adds.
She also says they should not lecture Kenyans back home about how filthy the country is,or the state of hospitals and roads.
Mkienda America mliacha Kenya iko hivyo,” she says.
She also accuses Kenyans abroad of developing some kind of pride after winning the green card and failing to settle bills once they visit Kenya.
“And then even those of you who went to America straight from Ushago and had never visited Nairobi before you got your Green Card and only passed through the City enroute to Jomo Kenyatta Airport ati sasa mnajifanya mnataka kukaa Kilimani area kwa sababu mmesikia watu wengine walikaa huko.”
When many Kenyans return from the US, she says, and all they do is drink alcohol, brag with hired cars and leave without paying bills.
“Please please give us a break and use Google to get rental cars and apartments. But we still love you ma-Summer bunnies,’ she concludes.

Akiamua kurudi nyumbani alfajiri, sawa

Kenya Diaspora RemittancesSlump for the Second Month ina Row

Kenya Diaspora Remittances Slump for the Second Month in a Row

For the second month in a row, Kenya diaspora remittances have slumped in what is attributed to the expiry of the tax amnesty offered by the government for Kenyans to repatriate wealth stashed abroad.
Kenyans living and working overseas sent home $214 million (Sh22.2 billion) in the month of August 2019, latest data published by Central Bank of Kenya (CBK) showed.
This represents a drop by 4.5 percent from $224 million (Sh23.3 billion) recorded the previous month (July), CBK said in its weekly market bulletin.
However, cumulative diaspora inflows for the first eight months of this year grew to $1.888 billion (Sh196 billion) from $1.809 billion (Sh187.8 billion) in 2018.
July’s remittances declined by $71 million (Sh7.4 billion) from $295 million (Sh30.6 billion) recorded in June 2019 or a 24 percent fall.
June’s diaspora remittances were the highest in years, expanding 21 percent from $243 million (Sh24.7 billion) sent in May this year.
The reduced diaspora remittances in July and August are largely attributed to the end of the tax pardon for the return of taxable assets stashed abroad.
The tax Amnesty announced by suspended Treasury Cabinet Secretary Henry Rotich in 2016 expired on June 30th this year.
Since 2015, diaspora inflows have been the country's top foreign exchange income earner, ahead of earnings from tea and horticulture exports as well as tourism.
