Kenyan Man Found Dead in St Louis, Missouri Identified

A Kenyan man who was found dead in the United States on Friday, January 24th and whose body was set to be disposed of if nobody claimed it has been identified.
The man, who is reported to have died in his sleep in a house he shared with a Congolese friend in St. Louis, Missouri, was identified as Jacob Simatwa from Endebes, Kitale, Trans-Nzoia County, according to The Standard.
His body was taken to the St. Louis county mortuary for preservation pending post-mortem examination, and was set to be disposed of if nobody came forward to claim it. The Kenyan community in St. Louis have come together to ensure his body is airlifted to Kenya for burial.
There were speculations that Simatwa may have succumbed to complications linked to heavy alcohol drinking but his longtime friend, Joel Kipnusu from Iowa, who is coordinating his funeral arrangements, disputed this saying the deceased may have died from a heart attack.
“According to family and roommates, Jacob had a pacemaker and they suspect one of the tubes came out at night and that’s what may have killed him. But, we can’t be certain until the autopsy report from the medical examiner is released,” Kipnusu said.
Simatwa is said to have moved to the US in the early 2000s on an athlete scholarship and was known to have struggled with life because he did not have a job.
“He didn’t have a job for a very long time until recently when he finally received his permanent residency card (Green Card). I have spoken to those who were with him and I didn’t get any indication that he was drunk on the night that he died,” said Kipnusu.
“We are appealing to the Kenyan community and well-wishers in the US to assist in raising funds to send Jacob’s body back to Kenya. Prior to his death, Jacob was jobless and with no insurance coverage nor any personal savings in the bank.”
Kipnusu said Kenyans in St. Louis will hold a memorial service on Sunday, February 2nd, 2020 at 5 pm at Christ Covenant church 3465 Shackelford Rd, Florissant.
“The funeral planning committee has come up with a budget of Sh1,700,000 ($17,000 ) to cover burial and funeral expenses from the USA to Kenya,” he said.

Kenyan in Massachusetts Among 13 Suspects Charged with Indecent Solicitation of Children Online

A 41-year-old Kenyan man in Massachusetts was among 13 suspects arrested this week over allegations of trying to solicit children via social media and online classified ads.
Paul Kimata, of Brockton, Massachusetts, was arrested along with other suspects following an undercover investigation dubbed Operation Guardian carried out by Rhode Island state and local authorities, Rhode Island State Police announced on Thursday. Kimata has been charged with indecent solicitation of a child.
According to police investigators, the suspects thought they were arranging to meet with children aged between 13 and 15 years but were actually talking to undercover detectives in the state police-run Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force.
“Child predators are constantly looking for juveniles to exploit and prey upon,” Col. James Manni of the Rhode Island State Police said at a news briefing at the agency’s North Scituate headquarters announcing the arrests Thursday.
“Parents must remain vigilant in communicating with their children and monitoring their child’s social media platforms.”
All suspects were charged with indecent solicitation of a child while others faced separate charges, including electronically disseminating indecent material to a minor and, in one case, cocaine possession.
Police did not name the exact social media applications and online classified ads the suspects were using.
“It makes it a lot easier for predators to access children online. In the past, decades ago, there was no internet for that access to be there,” Sgt. Damien Longo of the Rhode Island State Police said.
Here is a list of all the 13 suspects:
  • Michael Johnson, 50, of 177 S. Main Street, Templeton, Massachusetts, was arrested on the charges of indecent solicitation of a child and electronically disseminating indecent material to a minor.
  • Jose Carrion, 41, of 130 Jones Street, Apt. 1, Attleboro, Massachusetts, was arrested on the charges of indecent solicitation of a child and possession of cocaine.
  • Kevin Cooney, 27, of 24 Ann Marie Drive, Bellingham, Massachusetts, was arrested on the charges of indecent solicitation of a child and electronically disseminating indecent material to a minor.
  • Tomy Fitton, 39, of 40 Mill Street, Pawtucket, was arrested on the charges of indecent solicitation of a child and electronically disseminating indecent material to a minor (5 counts).
  • Anthony Gomes, 31, of 10 Main Street, Apt. 1, Brockton, Massachusetts, was arrested on the charges of indecent solicitation of a child and electronically disseminating indecent material to a minor.
  • James Jolly, 41, of 47 Barden Hill Road, Middleboro, Massachusetts, was arrested on the charge of indecent solicitation of a child.
  • Paul Kimata, 41, of 685 Oak Street, Apt. 27, Brockton, Massachusetts, was arrested on the charge of indecent solicitation of a child.
  • David King, 37, of 32 Newton Avenue, Westerly, was arrested on the charges of indecent solicitation of a child and electronically disseminating indecent material to a minor.

  • Stephen Lomastro 57, of 166 Lakeside Avenue, Warwick, was arrested on the charge of indecent solicitation of a child.
  • Muhammad Malik, 44, of 90 McPartland Way, East Greenwich, was arrested on the charge of indecent solicitation of a child.
  • Emmett Manna, 37, of 46 Whittier Avenue, Apt. 2, Providence, was arrested on the charge of indecent solicitation of a child.
  • Manna Mahuri, 41, of 32 Newport Avenue, North Kingstown, was arrested on the charge of indecent solicitation of a child.

Kenya Airways Suspends China Flights over Coronavirus Outbreak

Kenya Airways on Friday announced the suspension of flights to Guangzhou, China over coronavirus fears.
The announcement came hours after the World Health Organization (WHO) declared the deadly virus a global emergency.
KQ had earlier refused to halt China flights despite other international airlines such as British Airways, American Airlines, Air France, Air Canada, Air Asia, Air India and Finland’s Finnair suspending operations to the Asian country.
“Further to our prior communication regarding the current Coronavirus outbreak, we have temporarily suspended all flights to and from Guangzhou starting Friday, 31st January 2020, until further notice. We, however, clarify that our service between Nairobi and Bangkok remains operational,” read a statement from KQ on Friday.
“Our consultation with the Ministries of Health and Foreign Affairs will continue and we will provide updates as the situation develops. We apologize to all our customers for the inconvenience and reaffirm that the safety of our customers and staff remains our highest priority.”
The death toll from Coronavirus climbed to 213 on Thursday after more than 40 victims – all of them in Hubei, the province at the center of the outbreak– died.

VOA

I will Go Home After 2022, Uhuru Says

President Kenyatta has reiterated that he will retire from politics once his current and final term expires in 2022.
Kenyatta, who spoke on Sunday at African Inland Church (AIC) in Milimani, Nairobi during the coronation of presiding Bishop Abraham Mulwa and his deputy reverend Paul Kirui, said he will not cling to power but will go home to have time with his family.
“No one will be at work all his life, you must spend time with your family at some point. You know even if I don’t attend this family meeting, I will be admonished and told that every time there is such a family meeting, I don’t attend while at the end of my time I will go home and be with them,” Kenyatta said as he pleaded with the congregants to allow him to leave the function early to attend a scheduled family meeting.
He appeared to be responding to a section of leaders who have suggested that he is too young to retire and should take up the Prime Minister position that is proposed in the Building Bridges Initiative (BBI) report.
Kenyatta was accompanied to the function by among others, Deputy President William Ruto, Cabinet Secretaries Fred Matiang’i (Interior), Charles Keter (Energy), Prof George Magoha (Education), Simo Chelugui (Labor) and Prof Margaret Kobia (Gender) and host governors and MPs.

In order for our democracy to be on track, be real and meaningful, you must go home after the end of your term. It doesn't matter whether you are going to see family or what not, just go! Moi's handing over power to Kibaki and Kibaki handing over to you must continue with you handing over power to whoever will be the next democratically elected president of Kenya. For the sake of posterity, do the right thing and save our nation from political prostitutes and crooks who only think about themselves with their phony street parades and a BBI that has nothing new to offer our people and country.
Uhuru Kenyatta is scum of the earth , a conman and unrepentant pathological liar.
If you believe him, you’re also part of the problem.
We want secession. We are tired of shameless lies and fake mea culpas.
The only time we had Democracy in Kenya was when Moi handed over to Kibski I 2003. Other years including 2007, 2013, and 2017 were total SHAMS.
