Results of the 2020 Diversity Visa Program (Green Card Lottery) Now Available Online

Results of the 2020 Diversity Visa program (DV-2020), popularly known as the Green Card Lottery, are now available on the US State Department website.
The portal opened on May 7th, 2019 at 12pm EDT.
The results will remain on the portal until at least September 30, 2020, says the State Department.
Only individuals who participated in the lottery during the open registration period which ran last year between October 3rd and November 6th can expect to be in the drawing.
The Diversity Visa program, which is run by the US Department of State, makes 55,000 permanent resident visas (green cards) available each year though a lottery system to nationals of countries with low numbers of immigrants in the United States. Kenya is among countries whose citizens qualified to participate in DV-2020.

The State Department, which runs the program, urges entrants to have their confirmation number, last/family name, and year of birth to check their status.
For DV-2020, nationals of the following countries were ineligible to participate in the program because they have had more than 50,000 natives immigrate to the United States over the last five years: Bangladesh, Brazil, Canada, China (mainland-born), Colombia, Dominican Republic, El Salvador, Haiti, India, Jamaica, Mexico, Nigeria, Pakistan, Peru, Philippines, South Korea,  United Kingdom (except Northern Ireland) and its dependent territories, and Vietnam.

US Withholds Funding for Sh300Billion Nairobi-MombasaExpressway

US Withholds Funding for Sh300 Billion Nairobi-Mombasa Expressway

The United States government has delayed funding for the proposed Sh300 billion Nairobi-Mombasa expressway.
Speaking during an interview with a local FM station, Ambassador Kyle McCarter said the US is scrutinizing the project to ascertain whether Kenyan taxpayers would get value for their money.
The envoy said the US is also concerned with Kenya's ballooning public debt.
"US zero tolerance for corruption has forced us back to the drawing board and we will only embark on the project once we are satisfied it guarantees value for money for Kenyans and will not sink the country deeper into debt," said McCarter.
He further said the US wants to establish whether the cost of the state-of-the-art infrastructure project was inflated.
“We did not want to sign onto a project whose cost would turn out to be three to four times higher than the actual."
"We want to ensure there is an honest return on investment for Kenyans before we break ground," McCarter stated.
The multi-billion-shilling contract for the construction of the 485-kilometer dual carriageway was awarded to an American engineering company, Bechtel.
“Bechtel did not lose the deal, we are still working on the finance. Kenya has a challenge of debt and we are wary of burdening Kenyans," the envoy said.
The project was declared viable following a feasibility study carried out by an audit firm, PriceWaterhouseCoopers (PwC) in 2015.
The four-lane road will allow uninterrupted speeds of up to 120 km per hour, cutting travel time between Mombasa and Nairobi from 10 to four hours.
The road will run parallel to the current Nairobi-Mombasa highway and is expected to help promote trade and ease movement of people and goods in Kenya and neighboring countries.

China refused to give these wakora money to extend SGR from Naivasha to Kisumu. The USA has followed. Who does not know the big percentage of that money will be looted.

My honest opinion. I think the US ambassador cares more about Kenya then the Kenyans care about Kenya. I have not seen a kenyan questioning the cost of the highway.

The refusal or delay of the funding is a blessing to the Kenyans. "My people die for lack of knowledge".
We need research and more research to have understanding. Read " Confessions of an Economic Hitman" and also watch it on you tube.
It will be an eye opener for us all as we move forward!!

Kenyan MP Wanted by US Authorities for Evading 1.5-Year Prison Sentence

A Kenyan Member of Parliament is on the radar of United States authorities for reportedly evading a jail term.
Fafi MP Osman Mohamed was convicted with tax evasion in the US in 2015 and was sentenced to 18 months in prison, reports Daily Nation.
Mohamed had reportedly been charged with 32 counts of aiding and assisting in the preparation of false tax returns amounting to $600,000.
He was arrested by undercover Criminal Investigation unit detectives of the Internal Revenue Service who approached him to prepare their Federal Income Tax Returns for 2007.
Mohamed used a company he co-owned with Yahya Sheikh to make fraudulent tax return documents with the aim of seeking tax refunds for his clients.
“The undercover agents did not provide him with an indication that they had incurred any of the false deductions that were placed upon the completed income tax returns,” Federal Tax Alert, an online publication reported.
After his arrest, Mohamed entered into a plea bargain agreement with the prosecutors and implicated his partner Sheikh, who had already fled the US to Canada.
The politician later got himself deported to Kenya as an illegal immigrant before serving his sentence.
American authorities are seeking to have him extradited to the US to serve his sentence.
Attempts by Daily Nation to get a comment from the MP were unsuccessful as he could not be reached.

He has probably crossed the border to Somalia never to be "seen" again. I say follow the MP's monthly salary which will continue getting paid out to catch him.

Like most people have commented time and again, most Kenyans are not just THIEVES, they are also fraudsters coming in different form and shapes. They are economic fraudsters and con men, looking for any opportunity to mine unsuspecting and innocent clients of their hard earned dollars. Defrauding a government, like Fafi Osman Mohamed did, to the US government, is going too far: smart, smartest, smartest. In the US, your are a criminal, but once in Kenya, your are cerebrated, and IEBC don't give a heck. As said earlier, Kenyan fraudsters comes in all forms and shapes. They spread their tentacles in all spheres of life salivating for any soft target. I was once preyed upon 4 years ago when I was relocating back to Kenya and had a huge cargo to ship back home, by one William Ng'ang'a Macharia of 8302 Stewart Court, Laurel, MD 20724(Hyattsville, Prince George's County), born Feb.1972 about 6ft tall, and owns a 2003 Acura tag#2DJW96 and a 2011 maroon Honda Pilot tag#7BH9288, owner of DMV Shipping LLC, a Pharmacist by profession, last know employer Kaeser Permanente, of WhiteMash, Baltimore. Initially, I had made a deal with Titan Impex Shipping LLC of New Jersey, owned by a Mr Ndung'u, to ship the cargo at a good rate. But once William Ng'ang'a Macharia got the wind of my relocation, he smooth-talk me and offered an enticing lower deal. Cut the story short, 10 months later waiting for my cargo to arrive(usually takes 8 weeks), over 60% of my cargo (worth over $8785.00) was either lost or stolen. Fours years down the river road, this fraudster has been taking me in circles, talking of compensation that never was. I still regret even today for not taking Titan Impex LLC offer. This guy William Ng'ang'a Macharia think he outsmarted me. Well, he did. But I told him one blunt thing, that however long it will take, one day God will compensate me in full, and may him or his 4th generation, go through the pain and predicaments he punctured in me. And I even told him that all his life, if he ever hurt any other Kenyan man/woman from Maryland, may US and State government agencies including State Troopers, Baltimore City and Baltimore and Anne Arundel County police and even federal agencies, give him peace and comfort, as herein dictated. And that's not all, God is Supreme, and He listens to the cry of those in pain, and may fate befall before my sunset years. All in all, there are people who were born to hurt others, and get away with it, like William N. Macharia. I will always wish him well.
@ William N. Macharia, please ask for forgiveness and compensate @IdaVethi accordingly. It's the right thing to do. I feel his pain!
