A Hopkins woman was sentenced Tuesday after a hidden camera captured her repeatedly beating a nursing home resident.
Fifty-six-year-old Cecilia Soi of Hopkins pleaded guilty July 19 to fourth-degree and fifth-degree assault.
She was sentenced Tuesday to six days in the Hennepin County Workhouse with credit for three days served. She will also be on probation for two years.
According to the criminal complaint, the resident’s daughter set up a camera at the Glenn Hopkins senior home after finding unexplained bruising on her mother. The family shared the video with Hopkins police on Sunday, Feb. 7, who arrested Soi.
Police say Soi, who worked as an aide, could be seen on the video using her hand, elbow and a hair brush to hit the woman in the head. The video also showed the elderly woman was pulled up from the floor by her hair.
Glenn Hopkins administrator Lori McGuire says Soi was fired and the facility is reviewing its hiring, training and supervisory practices.
