Kenyan Woman Who Lied about Racial Attack in India to be Deported

A Kenyan woman who falsely reported a racial attack in India will be reported soon, Indian authorities say.
Uttar Pradesh Police say Maria Burendi, a student at Mahatma Gandhi University, claimed to have been pulled out of a cab in Greater Noida by a group of men and assaulted. She later recanted her story and admitted to have lied.
Because Burendi's student visa is expired, authorities say they are initiating deportation proceedings against her.
Burendi’s story at first seemed believable in the wake of several recent racial attacks on Africans in Greater Noida.
