The US Department of State has announced that the Diversity Immigrant Visa Program for the fiscal year 2019 (DV-2019), popularly known Green Card Lottery, will run from Tuesday, October 3rd, 2017 to Tuesday, November 7th, 2017.
The Green Card Lottery program makes 55,000 permanent resident visas available to nationals of countries with historically low number of immigrants in the United States. Kenya is among the countries whose nationals qualify to participate in the program.
To qualify for a Diversity Visa (Green Card), an applicant must be a national of a qualifying country and also either completed high school education of have worked in a qualifying occupation for at least two years.

Applications are only accepted online at the Department of State website .
Winners of the DV-2019 lottery program will be eligible to migrate to the United States starting in January, 2019 as long as they pass the mandatory interview at the US embassy located in their home country.
