20 Kenyans Deported from the US Arrive at JKIA

Twenty Kenyans on Friday morning arrived at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) on a chartered flight after being deported from the United States.
The group arrived at 10am aboard an Omni International Airlines, a private airline. A total of 11 passengers including the Kenyans were aboard the flight. Other nationalities in the plane included 60 Somalis and 24 Sudanese.
The Kenyans were allowed to disembark from the plane at JKIA while the other nationalities remained in the plane to proceed to their countries of origin.
The Kenyans are said to have been deported for various immigration violations.
In a similar operation last year, a flight carrying 5 Kenyans and 67 Somalis arrived at the JKIA on May, 2017 (READ: 5 Kenyans, 67 Somalis Deported from the USA Arrive at JKIA) .
A total of 107 Kenyans were deported from the US last year, an increase from the 63 who were deported in 2016. The numbers were much higher for Somali nationals, with 521 Somalis deported last year and 198 in 2016.
In total the US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agency says 226,119 undocumented immigrants were deported in 2017, compared to 240,225 in 2016.
