The much publicized show, NRGWave featuring popular American rapper Rick Ross went down on Saturday night at the Carnivore grounds in Nairobi.
The show was marred by a maddening traffic, a muddy venue and a one-hour delay, but this didn't stop fans from arriving at the joint to witness one of the most celebrated hip hop singers in the world perform in Nairobi.
At 2:30am, the Everyday I’m Hustlin hit-maker arrived on stage and spent about 10 minutes parading himself to thousands of fans who thronged the venue for what was sold as one of the biggest entertainment shows in the country in recent years.
During the actual performance, the 42-year-old walked up and down the stage, dropping just a few stanzas here and there, as his popular hits played in the background.
After an hour of lip syncing majority of his famous hits, the Maybach recording label owner left the stage. This has left some fans complaining, some of them having forked out as much as Sh Sh10,000 just to watch him live.
Urban hip hop group Camp Mullah, Rapper Khaligraph Jones and Nyashinski curtain-raised the show for Rick Ross. NRG Radio host Mwalimu Racheal was the main MC for the concert.
Ross landed to a VIP reception at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) on Friday morning. Hundreds of fans camped at the Nairobi airport to welcome him before he was driven away in a large motorcade of luxury vehicles.
