Kenyan Students Win Award in World Lego Championships in the US


Ten students from Green Garden Girls High School in Kikuyu, Kiambu County have won a World Lego League award in Texas, United States.
The team travelled to the US to represent East Africa in the first ever World Lego League and
have won the award of the best NXT Robot.
The international teams competition was founded after a partnership between LEGO Company and a US-based organization. It is mainly for persons aged between 9 and 17.
The students booked the ticket to the World Championship in Robotics Education in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) held at Houston, Texas, from April 18th to April 21st, after emerging victorious in the hotly-contested event of schools drawn from the East African region. 
The qualifiers for Robotics in STEM education were held at the Brookhouse School, Nairobi on March 17th. 19 national, private and international schools from East Africa took part in the event where students learn STEM through making and Manipulating Lego Robots with a given theme.
The subject aims at stimulating the students' competencies, talents and creativity in the problem-solving process in line with the recently launched curriculum.
