A popular United States travel magazine has listed Nairobi among six must-visit cities in Africa.
American monthly consumer travel magazine, Travel+Leisure describes Nairobi as East Africa’s hub and home of emergent design collections from across the continent.
The 47-year-old magazine which has a total global audience of 16 million readers advises travelers seeking to explore the creative scene to consider visiting the Kenyan capital city in 2019.
The magazine tells tourists that traveling to Nairobi has been made easier following the launch of daily nonstop flights to Nairobi's Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) from JFK airport in New York.
“In October, Kenya Airways launched its first direct flight from New York City to Nairobi, making travel to East Africa a much easier proposition. Even if you plan to go on safari, it is worth spending time in Nairobi to explore the creative scene," the magazine notes.
Travel+Leisure lists several attraction sites found in Nairobi including wildlife sanctuaries, art studios, original art and bead workshops.
“These are the most compelling destinations across the globe—places that are thriving because of standout culinary scenes, marquee hotel and museum openings or new tours that are opening up a destination in ways our editors have never seen before,” the magazine's Editor-in-chief Jacqueline Gifford says.
It also lists Rwanda, Tunisia, Namibia, Egypt, and Seychelles as other must-visit destinations. Last year, the magazine listed Kenya among top 10 wildlife safari destinations in the world.
