Kenya has recorded two more cases of coronavirus (Covid-19), President Kenyatta has announced.
Kenyatta made the announcement while addressing the nation from Harambee House, Nairobi on Sunday evening. Uhuru said the two new cases came into contact with a 27-year-old Kenyan woman who was diagnosed last Thursday.
The confirmation came after all the 27 people believed to have had contact with the patient were isolated and tested.
“Our health officials have already moved them into Kenyatta National Hospital isolation facility. The medical teams are closely monitoring the patients who are reported to be in stable condition and are responding well to treatment,” said Kenyatta.
The woman arrived at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) from the United States on March 5th. She later felt unwell and took herself to the hospital and a test done at the National Influenza Lab in Nairobi on Thursday night confirmed she had been infected with Covid-19.
The patient is said to have traveled from Ohio, where she is a student, to Chicago from where she flew to Nairobi via London.
