You'll Be Charged with Treason if 'Sworn in', AG Githu Muigai Warns Raila

Kenya Attorney General Githu Muigai has warned opposition leader Raila Odinga that he risks being charged with treason if goes ahead to be 'sworn in' as people's president.
Speaking during a press briefing on Thursday, Prof Muigai, who is the chief legal adviser to the government said the plans by the National Super Alliance (NASA) leader is an illegality that would attract charges of treason.
"I reiterate the any attempts to swear in any person as president other than the one elected in line with the constitution and in a manner provided for in the law is unlawful, illegal null and void," Prof Muigai said at the State Law office in Nairobi.
Odinga is set to be installed as president on December 12th after being endorsed by Nasa's people's assembly. Githu also cautioned the 11 counties that have approved the creation of people’s assembly, noting that the county assemblies could be charged with misuse of tax payer's money.
However, speaking in Nairobi on Thursday, Odinga told off Western countries led by the US, who have been piling pressure in him to shelve the swearing in plan.
"We thought we had friends but we were wrong and now we know they are enemies. Up to today, no single ambassador has condemned the killing of people by police," he said.
He added: "The western countries should, therefore, keep off the affairs of the country as Kenyan problems will only be solved by Kenyans themselves."
