Deputy President William Ruto Defends His PhD Thesis at the University of Nairobi

Deputy President William Ruto on Wednesday defended his PhD thesis at the University of Nairobi (UON).
Ruto's thesis focuses on the impact of human activities on riparian reserves at Saiwa Swamp, Trans-Nzoia County.
"This morning, at the University of Nairobi, School of Biological Sciences, I defended my PhD thesis: Influence of Anthropogenic Activities on Land Use/Cover Changes and Environmental Quality of Saiwa Wetland Watershed, Western Kenya," Ruto says in a post on Facebook.
Last year, the Deputy President failed to graduate with a doctorate in Philosophy in Plant Ecology from UON after failing to meet what he termed as set requirements.
"I urge all colleges to observe set standards and award certificates to students purely on merit. As a PhD student, I have subjected myself to that standard. I was due to graduate tomorrow but I can't because of requirement," Ruto said.
Ruto holds an undergraduate degree in Botany and Zoology and a masters in Environmental Science
